We are less than 24 hours out from Day 1 of the NFL draft and I can't be the only one who thinks it feels more chaotic than years previous, especially for fantasy implications. There's been some chirping from the Cardinals about a possible Jeremiyah Love move at 3, Jordan Tyson stock has been soaring, the Giants just acquired a second top 10 pick, and we could have as many as 6 wide receivers going in the first round. SIX!
On the news front, Dallas is drawing a hard line with George Pickens, shutting down long-term extension talks and signaling he'll play the 2026 season on the $27.3M franchise tag. The decision hands Pickens a one-year prove-it scenario in a new offense, with his dynasty value now hinging on how Dallas deploys him before free agency reopens the conversation. Meanwhile, the Jeremiyah Love hype train is officially in the station — buzz has him climbing into the top 5 of the draft, a tier no running back has cracked in years. Our prospect comparison piece stacks him against other recent RB prospects to see whether the noise is justified or if he's the latest victim of April draft fever.

Cowboys Shut Down Pickens Extension Talks, Will Play Him on $27.3M Tag
Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones told reporters George Pickens will play the 2026 season on the franchise tag with no long-term negotiations, per @AdamSchefter. Dallas applied the nonexclusive $27.3 million tag in March and informed Pickens' agent David Mulugheta last week that an extension — which would need to be finalized by July 15 — is off the table, according to ESPN. Schefter characterized the situation bluntly: "They're nowhere with George Pickens right now. NOWHERE." Pickens has not signed the tender and the team has no assurances on when or if he'll report for the offseason program, with no financial penalty for skipping June's mandatory minicamp. The stance is notable given Pickens' career-best 2025 (93 catches, 1,429 yards, 9 TDs) and a receiver market that just pushed to $42.15 million annually on the Jaxon Smith-Njigba deal — nearly $15M above the tag. With Dak Prescott at $60M and CeeDee Lamb at $34M, Dallas is wary of a third premium contract. For fantasy managers, Pickens' WR1 role opposite Lamb remains intact, but attendance risk and a potential tag-and-trade scenario now linger over his 2026 outlook.
⚡ Quick Hits
Jeremiyah Love Buzz Climbs Into Top 5 -- Ian Rapoport reports real buzz that the Cardinals could take Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love at No. 3 overall, per @RapSheet, who said "his window starts at 3." ESPN's Jordan Raanan adds that people inside the Giants building are hoping Love slides to No. 5, per @JFowlerESPN. ESPN's Draft Day Predictor gives Love a 90% chance of going in the top five, which would make him the first RB drafted that high since Saquon Barkley in 2018, per CBS Sports. Not everyone's buying it — analyst @DBro_FFB called the Love steam "all smoke show." Dan Graziano pushed back on the fit financially, per @DanGrazianoESPN, noting top-5 RB picks lock teams into premium money at a position where good teams find cheap production. For dynasty rookie drafts, a top-5 landing spot would cement Love as the clear 1.01.
Jordyn Tyson Trending Toward Top-10 Selection -- Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson is tracking as a top-10 pick Thursday night, per @AdamSchefter, with ESPN's Jeremy Fowler adding that Dallas — while leaning defense — is high on him, per @JFowlerESPN. Tyson led the Big 12 in receptions (136) over his last two seasons and cut his drop rate to 1.6% in 2025, though an ACL/MCL/PCL tear in 2022, a 2024 collarbone fracture, and a 2025 hamstring kept him out of combine and pro day work, per CBS Sports. Some teams prefer his upside to Carnell Tate's, and Giants and Jets interest is well-documented. Asked on Reddit about playing in New York, Tyson quipped: "Isn't it Jersey, technically?"
Seahawks Openly Shopping No. 32 Pick -- Seahawks GM John Schneider told reporters Seattle wants to trade back from No. 32 to stockpile picks after entering the draft with just four selections, per @AdamSchefter. "It's no secret with us. We have four picks, so we'll be looking to move back," Schneider said, per Seahawks.com, adding he'd even deal within the NFC West. NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah flagged the risk: moving too far back could push Seattle out of range for the top running backs — with Notre Dame's Jadarian Price frequently mocked at 32. The No. 32 slot carries added leverage as the last first-round pick with a fifth-year option attached.
🏈 Deep Dive
Occasionally I’ll weave in my own editorial analyses and bits, which you can find in Deep Dive. This week I’ll be taking a look at my favorite off season analysis - Vacated Targets (also called Available Targets). If you’re unfamiliar it’s basically the amount of targets that left a team due to players leaving in the offseason (free agency, trades, retirement, etc.). I like finding teams with lots of available targets and looking at which players have high yards-per-route-run numbers. Players who are efficient when they are running routes on teams where there are a lot of opportunities do well, it’s that simple.

YPRR (yards per route run) is a go-to advanced metric when looking at who is being productive when given the opportunity. And above are the teams with lots of opportunities. Players worth mentioning with their YPRR (anything 1.8+ is good, 2.0+ is fantastic):
Rashee Rice (2.15)
Malik Nabers (1.99)
Zay Flowers (2.52)
Terry McLaurin (2.21) - it was a funky season for the Commanders. We’ll see what happens with the draft but there’s a world where Deebo doesn’t come back and they don’t grab anyone in the draft and Terry could be one of the best picks
Wan’Dale Robinson (1.86)
Christian Watson (2.5) - also a redzone monster which that 2.5 doesn’t capture
Parker Washington (2.06)
Alec Pierce (2.10)
Drake London (2.33) - my god he might have like 200 targets next year
Jalen McMillan (2.14)
Michael Pittman (1.45) - a little underwhelming but can excuse some of it away due to a very spread the ball around offense. He’ll be a fine bet at ADP
SF, CHI, LAC - good offenses, good QBs, but a lot of mouths to feed; not avoiding, just not going out of my way for anyone specifically. Burden is an honorable mention with a (2.67 YPRR), but his ADP is super high - he’s a high risk/high reward type pick.
I’m going to follow this up next week with an Adjusted Vacated Targets which adjusts the table above for the number of targets added to the teams room from players who joined during the offseason. That combined with the landing spots of Rookie WRs will paint a great snapshot heading into draft season.
👀 Roster Rumblings
Four OTs Could Crash the Top 15-17 Picks -- Per @JFowlerESPN, conversations with teams suggest it wouldn't be surprising to see four offensive tackles come off the board in the first 15-17 picks. Francis Mauigoa and Spencer Fano are the consensus names, while Monroe Freeling and Kadyn Proctor have reportedly worked their way into the conversation thanks to their feet, length, prototype LT build, and SEC pedigree.
Ty Simpson Emerging as Late First-Round QB Target -- Alabama QB Ty Simpson is shaping up as one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft, with a potential late-first-round trade-up scenario in play per @FieldYates. @RapSheet also previewed how such a trade might work on The Insiders. @minakimes pointed to Arizona as a possible landing spot, with the open question being whether the Cardinals would need to move up or could sit back and wait.
🔭 Injury Watch
🟢 Chris Bell -- Louisville WR Chris Bell is running 18+ MPH and ahead of schedule in his ACL rehab, per @RapSheet, citing agent Erik Burkhardt and surgeon Dr. Dan Cooper. At 6'2.5, 222 lbs with 4.3 speed, the November ACL tear hasn't derailed his draft stock — he's viewed as a likely Friday pick.
🟢 Quinshon Judkins -- Judkins was spotted on the field during voluntary minicamp, suggesting he is progressing well from his knee injury and should be fully healthy for the start of the 2026 season.
💬 Player Discussions and Rankings
[Dynasty Trade Targets: 4 Top Players to Buy and Sell] The r/fantasyfootball community engaged with a dynasty buy/sell piece headlined by George Pickens, CeeDee Lamb, and Omarion Hampton. One commenter flagged Pickens as a risky hold given potential holdout concerns and emotional volatility, preferring to roll with Lamb instead. Others pushed back on the framing — questioning what price Hampton could actually be bought at, and what return would justify selling Lamb. A reader also pointed out the inconsistency of recommending selling Bucky Irving coming off a strong rookie year while simultaneously promoting Hampton in the same profile. On Nico Collins, one commenter felt Texans offensive struggles were overstated but acknowledged real concern about target share competition. Overall, the thread leaned skeptical of the specific recommendations.
[Pre-Draft Dynasty WR Rankings: Top 50 Tier List] A top-50 dynasty WR tier list drew mixed reactions in the r/fantasyfootball thread. The loudest critique: rookie hype felt overcooked in the rankings. Another reader questioned the timing entirely, noting the list would be outdated within days of the NFL Draft. On specific placements, one commenter (Noctrim) argued Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson — and possibly Nico Collins — should slot ahead of the author's Tier 4. There was also some optimism about Malik Nabers pairing with Jaxson Dart for a full season. The author (u/drkelemnt) defended the tiering approach, but the consensus pushback was that several veterans are being undervalued relative to unproven rookies.
[Mastering Dynasty Rookie Drafts | Breaking Down the Tiers You Need to Know] A rookie draft tier breakdown sparked debate in the r/fantasyfootball community. One commenter pushed back hard on Mendoza being locked into the top two, calling that far from settled. The broader consensus: after Jeremiyah Love, the class is wide open, and draft capital plus landing spot will largely dictate fantasy value. That reality drew some anxiety — readers noted recent history is littered with rookie "burns" driven by hype. Others argued landing spot shouldn't overhype decisions but still matters in the evaluation process. There was also some playful skepticism about Sadiq being labeled safe, with one user joking about how Matt Waldman would react to the list. Split opinions overall, with Love as the only real anchor.
[2026 NFL Draft Bold Predictions: 8 Predictions for the Early Rounds] With the NFL Draft imminent, the r/fantasyfootball community traded their own bold predictions. One commenter floated Love falling outside the top 10, Pittsburgh taking a QB by round two (possibly Ty Simpson), and five OTs plus five edge rushers going in the first round. Another called the Mendoza projection genuinely bold and endorsed it. A more playful take had Love landing with the Commanders, Tate to Cleveland, and Simpson to either Kansas City or the Giants. The thread leaned toward fun speculation rather than consensus, with Love's landing spot clearly the most actively debated storyline heading into draft day.
[Digging Deeper: 10 of my Deepest Rookie Sleepers Nobody is Talking About.] A deep-dive rookie sleeper post got glowing reception in the r/dynastyff community, with multiple users bookmarking it and calling it exactly the kind of content that keeps them on Reddit. Tyren drew specific attention as a likely Day 4 or UDFA target one commenter plans to grab off waivers post-draft, citing his ability to hold his own against D1 corners at the Senior Bowl. A Georgia Tech fan also chimed in on Jamal Haynes, describing him as explosive and someone who was positioned to climb into the conversation with another strong final season. Overall the thread skewed appreciative, with readers treating the list as a legitimate reference for late rookie draft picks and post-draft waiver adds.
[Jeremiyah Love as a prospect compared to other recent RB prospects] The r/dynastyff community compared Jeremiyah Love against recent elite RB prospects, and the consensus is clear: Bijan Robinson stands alone at the top. Multiple commenters described Bijan as a 5-star, every-box-checked prospect who "moves different," with uniquely polished receiving chops even as a freshman. From there, opinions split on Love vs. Ashton Jeanty, with most putting them in a tight tier and some open to either order. Jahmyr Gibbs and Omarion Hampton generally landed behind the top trio. One commenter shared NFL.com's prospect grades for context: Jeanty 7.15, Bijan 6.84, Love 6.73, Gibbs 6.37, Hampton 6.35. A few noted Love may be benefitting from a weaker overall class, but still viewed him as a legitimate top-tier talent.
[The Tradabase is live on Roster Audit. Search real dynasty trades down to the exact trade you have in mind.] Roster Audit's new Tradabase — a searchable database of real dynasty trades — got a warm welcome from the r/dynastyff community. One longtime user credited the platform with most of their fantasy screen time, while another said they appreciate the trade calculator offering a different valuation perspective than Dynasty Dominator. A user who searched 1.01 trades walked away horrified at how badly some managers get fleeced. Questions about a mobile app version came up, and the thread also produced the funniest comment of the day from a user who clicked in looking for something very different than dynasty trade data. Overall strong reception for the tool launch.
